At the Department of Biology of the University of Patras, the Internship Program was held for the first time during the academic year 2015-2016. The Internship is an important activity that attracts the interest of many students of the Department and is a connection of higher education with the labor market, offering students a first important work experience in a field related to their scientific interests.
The Internship is an institutionalized course of the Curriculum of the Department of Biology with course regulations and course codes BIO_ZE09 for the 7th semester and BIO_HE06 for the 8th semester. It is an elective course; it corresponds to six (6) ECTS and it lasts for two (2) months. The program “Internship at the University of Patras: Department of Biology” lasts from October 1 to September 30 of each year.
For the students of the Department of Biology, the Internship is an elective course of the 7th or 8th semester with 6 ECTS. Eligible to participate in the Internship are fourth-year or senior students who, after their selection, are employed for a period of two (2) months, in public or private institutions. The selection of candidates for the participation of students in Internship positions is done according to the criteria set by the Department of Biology in the course regulations.
